Wood County Human Services recently became a “Dementia Friendly” organization. Staff members participated in a training where they learned the basics of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, along with best practices to foster positive interactions and assist people in our community living with memory loss. Training was provided by the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin in collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association and the Central Wisconsin Dementia Network. This training is offered to help create dementia friendly communities where people living with dementia are able to remain active members of their local community. Window cling decals are displayed at the main entrances of Human Services buildings to identify our organization as “Dementia Friendly.”
