2010 Speaking Contest Winners

The annual Wood County Conservation Speaking Contest was held on October 7th, 2010 at Pittsville High School. A total of 37 students from Wood County participated in the contest. In the elementary division first place was Adileen Sii, from WR Middle School, with her speech “The Disappearing Act”. Second place in the elementary division was Natalee Ochoa, from Grove Elementary, with her speech “Cute but Mean”. In the Junior Division first place went to Yer Thao, from WR Middle School, with her speech “Emerald Ash Borer”. In the senior division, first place went to Cassidy Schlinsog, from Marshfield Columbus, with her speech “Aluminum Can Recycling”. Second place in the senior division was Scout Inman, from Marshfield Columus, with her speech “Organic Food and Farming”. The first place speech winners advance to the area competition, which is October 28, 2010 at the Wausau School Forest.

The Wood County Conservation Poster Contest was held on October 8nd, 2010 with a total of 56 posters entered. All posters had a theme of “Conservation Habits = Healthy Habitats”. To view the winning posters please visit the Wood County Land Conservation Department website. Middle Division first place went to Makenzie Hansen, from Our Lady of Peace, Marshfield. Middle Division second place went to Olivia Scholin, from Our Lady of Peace, Marshfield. The first place poster winners advance to the area competition, which is October 28, 2010 at the Wausau School Forest.
