Civil Process

The Wood County Sheriff's Department Civil Process Division handles the service of legal papers pursuant to Wisconsin Statute 59.27 (4) which states that the Sheriff, personally or by the undersheriff or deputies, serve or execute all processes, writs, precepts and orders issued or made by lawful authority and delivered to the Sheriff. The division has a full time process server who is a deputy within the department. Process servers, serve a wide variety of papers. The different type of papers include:

  • NOTICE OF HEARINGS
  • SUBPOENA
  • NOTICE OF MOTION
  • MOTIONS
  • AFFIDAVITS

  • FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE STATEMENTS
  • EVICTIONS
  • OTHER TYPES

We honor all CURRENT Affidavits of Indigence.

If you have papers for service, they will be accepted at the Sheriff's Office Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. through 4 p.m. (excluding holidays), or they may be mailed to the Sheriff's Office.

A PRE-PAYMENT OF $75.00 PER PAPER, PER PERSON, IS REQUIRED ON ALL PAPERS TO BE SERVED.

Rates

The department charges the following rates for serving papers:

Basic Service Fee $75 includes mileage and 3 attempts
Service Attempts $75 maximum of 3 attempts
Sheriff's Sale Posting $75
Writ of Replevin $75 for service and seizure plus all costs and officers productive hourly rate
Writ of Restitution $75 for service of Writ plus all costs and officers productive hourly rate
Writ of Execution $75 for service of Writ (billed to plaintiff if no money collected) + costs - added costs necessary if property is seized and sold. All fees are added to judgment total and collected from the defendant or taken out of proceeds from the sale.
