Pfizer Booster Dose, Community Testing, and Kindness Matters
Wisconsin Rapids, WI – The Wisconsin Department of Health Services recommends that the following populations SHOULD receive a booster dose of Pfizer vaccine at least 6 months after receiving their second dose of Pfizer vaccine in order to further strengthen their immunity:
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services recommends that the following populations MAY receive a booster dose of Pfizer vaccine at least 6 months after receiving their second dose of Pfizer vaccine, after considering their individual risks and benefits:
At this time, the Pfizer-BioNTech booster authorization only applies to people who got Pfizer-BioNTech for their first two doses.
An additional dose is still recommended for people who may not have received adequate protection from their initial vaccine series. People with moderate to severe compromised immune systems are recommended to get an additional dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) to increase their immune response so they have better protection against COVID-19. People who got a Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine are not recommended to get an additional dose at this time because of limited data.

Additional vaccine doses are available for people with compromised immune systems. Seasonal flu vaccines are now available and are the best protection against the flu. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services recommends that everyone age 6 months and older get a flu vaccine in the fall. The flu vaccine can be given at the same time as any of the COVID-19 vaccines. Contact your doctor or pharmacy to get your flu vaccine.
Free drive-thru COVID-19 testing is available in Marshfield at the Marshfield Fairgrounds on 513 E 17th Street at the Expo 1 building from 8:00-12:00pm Tuesday, October 5 and October 12. Free drive-thru COVID-19 testing is available in Wisconsin Rapids in a city parking lot on 3rd Avenue between the Centralia Center and Tribune building from 9:00am-12:00pm Monday, October 4 through Friday, October 8. No appointment is needed; PCR tests will be done. Please allow 2-5 days for results.
